Housings are key components which support transmission assembly. In many applications, housings are assumed to be perfectly rigid and are therefore neglected in the analysis. However, this simplification can lead to inaccurate results, particularly for lightweight or special-design housings. Different load cases defined in the load spectrum can significantly alter the magnitude and direction of the bearing reaction forces, thus affecting the housing deformation calculation.
KISSsoft® Release 2026 incorporates housing deformation into load spectrum calculations within the System Module. With just a few steps, users can define a housing and import its corresponding FEM-reduced stiffness matrix. Once the calculation is complete, the influence of the housing is evaluated for each load bin, enabling a detailed analysis of its impact on the gear load distribution.
